How do I place an order?

Just find your favorite dress, pick your size, and hit “Add to Cart.” When you’re ready, head to checkout and follow the prompts.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
We begin processing orders right away to ensure quick shipping, so changes or cancellations cannot be guaranteed. If you need to make a change, please email us at hello@formalist.com within 1 hour of placing your order, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

How do I know if my order went through?

Once your order is confirmed, you'll get an email from us with all the details. No email? Check your spam/junk folder just in case. Still nothing? Reach out and we’ll help!

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards, debit cards, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

When will I be charged for my order?

You’ll be charged as soon as your order is placed and confirmed.

Do you offer buy now, pay later options?

Yes! Just select the Shop Pay option at checkout and split your payment into smaller chunks.

Shipping & Delivery

When will my order ship?

Orders are processed and shipped within 2–3 business days. During high-volume seasons (such as prom or the holidays), processing may take slightly longer — but we’ll always keep you updated.

Orders placed after 12pm PST on Friday, or over the weekend, will begin processing on Monday.

Please note that shipping timelines begin once your order has been processed and shipped, not at the moment of checkout.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping times vary based on the service selected:

  • Standard Domestic Shipping: Typically 4-6 business days
  • Expedited & Rush Shipping: Available at checkout
  • International Shipping: Typically 6–14 business days, not including customs clearance

These time frames are estimates only and do not include weekends, holidays, or carrier delays due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Delivery dates are not guaranteed.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure your shipping address is correct at checkout — we ship orders exactly as entered. We are not responsible for delays, lost packages, or delivery issues caused by incorrect addresses or by the shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, or DHL Express). For any shipping concerns, please contact the carrier directly.

Do you offer express or rush shipping?

Yes! Expedited and rush options are available at checkout. We recommend choosing one of these options if your event is approaching. Please note that certain locations may not be eligible for expedited services.

How much is domestic (US) shipping?

We offer free standard ground shipping on domestic orders over $199 within the contiguous U.S. At this time, orders shipping to Alaska and Hawaii are excluded from free shipping and will be charged standard shipping rates at checkout due to carrier costs.


For orders under that amount, the exact shipping cost will be shown at checkout and is calculated based on your order and location.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — we currently ship to a select number of countries and are actively working on expanding our international options. Please check back for updates. All prices are listed in USD.

International Taxes & Duties

All customs duties, VAT, taxes, and import fees are the customer’s responsibility and are not included in our shipping charges. These fees are determined by your country, and we do not receive or control them. For questions regarding potential fees, please contact your local customs authority.

If a package is refused or returned to sender, store credit will be issued minus return shipping costs.

How do I track my order?

Once your order ships, you’ll receive an email with your tracking link. You can check it anytime to follow your delivery.

Lost, Stolen, or Delayed Packages?

Once your package is handed off to USPS, UPS, or DHL Express, it is no longer within our control. We are not responsible for packages that are lost, delayed, or stolen in transit. For delivery issues, please contact the carrier directly using your tracking number.


Duties, Taxes & Customs Fees (International Orders)

International shipments may be subject to taxes and duties regulated by the destination country. These charges are not included in our shipping rates, and we do not collect or remit any customs fees. Failure to pay required taxes or duties may delay delivery or cause the package to be returned.

Order Status

Where can I check the status of my order?

Once your order ships, you’ll get a tracking number via email. That’s your go-to for updates!

Will I get a confirmation email or tracking number?

Yes to both! First, a confirmation email right after you order. Then, a tracking number once your dress ships out.

What happens if my item is out of stock?

If something sells out while you're shopping (rare, but it happens!), we'll notify you right away and refund you fully. Promise.

Returns & Exchanges

We want you to love your purchase—but if you’re not fully satisfied, we accept returns for store credit within 10 days of receiving your order. 

Return Guidelines:

  • Store credit is issued for the item’s value only (excluding shipping, discounts, and promos).
  • A $15 prepaid return label is available for domestic returns and deducted from your credit.
  • International customers are responsible for all return shipping, duties, and taxes.
  • Items must be unworn, with tags attached, and in perfect condition. If the item is returned worn, we will refuse the return and you won't receive your store credit.

What is Checkout +?:

  • Checkout + is an optional service that covers the cost of your return shipping label if you return eligible items for store credit.
  • Without Checkout +, the cost of the return label is deducted from your issued store credit.

How to Return:

  • Visit our returns portal to initiate your return
  • Select the items you wish to return
  • Upload clear photos of the items and describe any issues if applicable
  • Review and submit your return request to receive a prepaid return label
  • Package items securely and attach the provided return label
  • Drop off your package at any authorized shipping location or schedule a pickup

Important Notes:

  • Store credit only—we do not issue refunds.
  • Sale items are final sale and not eligible for return or exchange.
  • Once your return has been processed, you’ll receive an email with your store credit details.
  • Items worn, damaged, altered, or returned without prior approval with an Return Authorization will be sent back.

How do I know what size to order?

Every dress has its own size guide — just click “Size Chart” on the product page. If you’re between sizes, we usually recommend sizing up for comfort.

Do you have a size chart?

Yes! You’ll find it on each product page, right above the size options.
